Welcome! I’m Moira Rose Donohue, children's author, playwright and self-proclaimed Punctuation Queen. I hope you will spend some time visiting me here. Be sure to try out my fun games under "For Fun."
I recently completed six biographies for State Standards Publishing about six Virginians who had an impact on civil rights in Virginia in the 20th century: Maggie L. Walker, Harry F. Byrd, Sr., Oliver W. Hill, A. Linwood Holton, Arthur R. Ashe, Jr. and L. Douglas Wilder. I really enjoyed getting to know these individuals, who lived amazing lives, and I hope you will enjoy learning about them too. And reading about these six Virginians is required under the Virginia Standards of Learning for fourth grade!
I hope you will also enjoy some of my other articles, poems, plays for children and my punctuation books, ALFIE THE APOSTROPHE and PENNY AND THE PUNCTUATION BEE, that reveal the "secret personalities" of punctuation marks.
I'd love to hear from you—just click on "Contact Me." And teachers, I am available for school visits—please check out my programs, including one on Virginia Civil Rights for fourth grade, and my new, recession-sensitive lower rates!
